Plank Lounge Chair Model GE 290 by Hans J. Wegner for Getama, Denmark 1953

This early edition of the so-called Plank Chair, Model GE-290, was manufactured during the 1950s. Hans J. Wegner designed this easy chair in 1953 for the traditional furniture manufacturer Getama, located in Gedsted, Denmark. The high-quality chair is in all original condition. It features an oak wood frame with a nice grain. The frame has high-quality elastic metal spiral belts from the 1950s. The two heavy cushions have inner metal springs and metal reinforcements along the edges to ensure form stability. This iconic chair shows light wear consistent with age and use, the original multicoloured fabric cover has small damages and partly faded out colors. It is the rare and original cover from the 1950s.
