Stainless steel wastebasket by Xavier Féal for Inox Industrie.

Wastepaper basket designed by Xavier Féal for Inox Industrie, made of brushed stainless steel around 1969. This iconic piece from the production of the French publisher perfectly illustrates the formal language developed by the designer within his stainless steel collection marketed between 1969 and 1974. Shaped from a single sheet of stainless steel that is folded and curved, the basket features a supple and sculptural silhouette characterised by fluid curves and an asymmetrical covering of the ends. A circular cutout integrated into the side flap serves as a grip while contributing to the graphic balance of the object. At the intersection of a desk accessory and functional sculpture, this basket reflects the French modernist aesthetic of the late 1960s, where stainless steel became a preferred material for the most innovative creators. Produced by Inox Industrie, it is part of the short but remarkable series of furniture and objects designed by Xavier Féal. In used condition, with light superficial scratches and signs of use consistent with the age and purpose of the object.
