This sun-shaped pendant lamp dates from the 1940s and represents European handcrafted work in rustic and brutalist style wrought metal from the mid-20th century. The structure is handmade in wrought metal, shaped into a concave circular plate surrounded by pointed sun rays around its entire outer perimeter. A continuous border of hand-embossed dots runs along the base of the rays and frames the central circular diffuser of textured and translucent glass, placed inside the metal structure. The main body hangs from three hollow hand-hammered metal rods through which the wiring runs, joined at the top by intermediate forged rings that add visual rhythm to the vertical suspension. At the upper end, the three rods converge in a matching circular canopy, which reproduces both the silhouette of sun rays and the dotted edge of the lower shade. Each element, from the individually cut tips to the hammered tubular rods, shows traditional blacksmithing techniques executed without industrial stamping. With balanced dimensions of 50 cm (19.69 in) high by 50 cm (19.69 in) in diameter, this pendant lamp fits an entrance hall, dining room, covered gallery, or living room with medium or high ceilings. The combination of dark wrought metal and diffused central light integrates naturally into interior design projects ranging from Spanish Colonial and Rustic style homes to Mid-Century Modern and Brutalist architectural spaces seeking an original 1940s piece.
