Art Deco Chandelier by Franta Anýž for IAS, Czechoslovakia, 1930s

A wide nickel-plated tubular ring holds eight tulip-shaped candle cups. Beneath them, a frosted glass disc is lit by a central bulb sheltered under a bell-shaped shade. The ring hangs from a round ceiling canopy on four cords, giving the piece a light, airy, architectural silhouette. When lit, the candle bulbs give a warm sparkle while the frosted glass spreads a soft, diffused glow, so the chandelier works for both ambient and decorative lighting. The chandelier is in very good vintage condition and has been carefully cleaned. The nickel plating shows a beautiful, even patina consistent with its age. One candle cup has a small hairline crack, shown in the photos, which is not visible when the chandelier is hanging. The electrics were replaced in the past and are in excellent working order.
