Alcock, lindley-bloore (alb), a factory in production in stoke-on-trent, staffordshire, from 1919 to 1972, and one of the main names associated with the development and production of the "brown betty" teapot, an o-so-british icon and guarantee of a good cup of tea. This model dates from 1965-1972, just before alb was incorporated into royal doulton. What makes an authentic "brown betty" - the material (the red earth of staffordshire and its calorific properties), the brown enamel and plump shape - plunges us both to the sources of renowned english ceramic production (the "red ware", produced in staffordshire since the 17th century) and into the history of british design. Stamp "alb made in england" on the back of the teapot and "made in england" embossed inside the lid. This teapot is equipped with the "lock-lid" system patented by alb (prevents the lid from falling when tilting the teapot to serve the tea). In very good condition: some "bavures" of manufacture to be expected. Diam. 14 cm, h 14.5 cm, vol. 1.2 liter.
