In the garden. Size: 31.5 X 37.5 cm (including frame) Oil on canvas. An expressive and wonderfully textured mid-century oil composition that presents a figure in a hat in a lush garden setting. Containing elements of impressionism and abstraction, all realistic details have been intentionally left out, the artist has swiftly applied loose and expressive dabs of paint to capture this scene. Using the impasto technique, the thick and creamy texture of the brushwork gives the painting a tactile and aesthetically captivating presence. This oil on canvas has been laid down to board, and is housed in a complementary grey frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has marks and scuffs as shown.
