Desk lamp in oxblood leather and brass, France, 1950s, often attributed to Jacques Adnet. This is the version with the integrated manual perpetual calendar, which is the scarcer variant of the model. The base is a rounded triangular form wrapped in saddle-stitched leather, with a tapered leather-covered column rising from it. The calendar roller sits in front, also covered in leather, with black bakelite ends. It is turned by hand and reads in French (samedi, octobre). The brass arm has two adjustable joints, one at the column and one at the shade, so the shade can be aimed in almost any direction. The diabolo shade is leather-covered with a brass band at the waist and a cream interior. It is fitted for a small bayonet bulb Dimensions: H 50 cm, W 18 cm, D 35 cm. Condition: Good vintage condition with honest age. The leather has a good colour and a natural patina, and the stitching is intact. The inside of the shade has some smudges and marks, and the shade has been refastened at some point in its life. The brass has a warm, even patina and the joints move as they should. A good desk lamp that is also a functional piece of French design.
