Louis XIV commode in oak – Sculpted decoration and bronze fittings – 18th century

Lady's commode from the Louis XIV period with three oak drawers – Sculpted decoration and bronze fittings – 18th century. Charming narrow oak commode, opening at the front with three wide stacked drawers. The front features an interesting geometric decoration sculpted in reserve, forming scroll-like patterns that rhythm each of the drawers. The top echoes this same decorative vocabulary with four sculpted polylobed motifs, surrounded by a moulded fillet. Beautiful antique bronze fittings consisting of handles with a leaf decoration and intricately designed keyholes. The lower rail is cut and scroll-shaped. The sides are simple, constructed with panels, while the drawers have a traditional construction with dovetail joints. A piece full of character, retaining a beautiful old brown patina, which can be used as a bedside commode or a storage unit of good dimensions. Period: 18th century, French work.
