Pair of Louis XV wall sconces in carved and polychrome wood – 19th century

A favourite for this magnificent pair of two-armed wall lights, perfect for adding a "shabby chic" or boudoir touch to your interior. They stand out due to remarkable wood carving work, combining original gold leaf and a deep red polychromy. The central shaft and arms are adorned with cream cartouches embellished with hand-painted flowers, offering a rare and very spring-like contrast. The sinuous line, typical of the Rococo style, is accentuated by stylised acanthus leaves and elegant scrolls. • Style: Louis XV (19th century). • Materials: Carved wood, stucco, gilding, and artisanal painting. • Condition: Beautiful vintage condition. The patina is superb and attests to their authenticity. Note some slight losses of gilding in places (see photos), which adds to their charm. • Electricity: Original system present but old. For optimal safety and daily use, a review of the wiring is recommended (removable plastic candle sockets). • Installation: Groove at the back designed for a clean wire passage against the wall.
