Polychrome slipware jardinière, French work from the late 19th century, in the style of productions from Onnaing or Orchies. Oval in shape and resting on a pedestal, it is richly adorned with a high-relief decoration featuring an antique subject: a scene of a chariot drawn by horses, draped figures, and stylised vegetal friezes. The ends are enhanced by remarkable appliqués depicting an eagle with outstretched wings resting on flags, adding a strong decorative presence to the whole. The polychromy, in warm tones of brown, honey, green, and deep blue, highlights the finesse of the modelling and the quality of execution. Celadon blue glazed interior. Dimensions: Height: 22 cm. Length: 40 cm. Depth: 23 cm. Condition: Good overall condition. Notable are slight signs of wear and small marks of time, with no major breaks or visible restoration. A decorative piece of fine quality, emblematic of the great slipware productions from Northern France, ideal as a centrepiece or jardinière.
