Italian decorative soup tureen St Capodimonte in porcelain

Italian antique soup tureen in white porcelain, Rococo style Capodimonte, mid-20th century, signed with a crowned N. A particularly decorative piece, resting on a pedestal. Generous and architectural shape, highlighted by two large openwork handles forming leafy scrolls. The body is animated by a rich dreamlike relief decoration featuring horses or lions, scrolls, rosettes, foliage, rocaille scrolls, cartouches, and plant motifs. The upper pedestal echoes this same ornamental vocabulary with acanthus leaves, carved veins and scrolls, along with winged angel heads, before flaring out to a undulating square base. The domed lid is also abundantly adorned with animal and plant motifs in relief, featuring four horses or lions, all topped with a sculpted handle in the shape of a button or plant bud. Beneath the base is the signature with the "crowned N" accompanied by the mention "Made in Italy, " a mark traditionally associated with Italian productions made in the style of Capodimonte at the end of the first half of the 20th century.
