Magnificent complete dining room set from the mid-20th century (circa 1940-1950), with a style at the crossroads of late Art Deco and modernism. The Table: The top features a sumptuous Rio rosewood veneer with contrasting grain, highlighted by a delicate light marquetry inlay with scrolls at the corners. It rests on four tapered black lacquered legs finished with original gilded brass caps. An integrated sliding system under the top for extensions (not provided). The 6 Chairs: Matching the table, they have an elegant high back made of curved wood. The seat and backrest are covered in a light (faux leather/fabric) upholstery that is very bright, accented by a black piping that structures the line. Front legs with metal caps. General Condition: The set is stable, solid, and sound. The upholstery of the chairs shows normal signs of use (slight rings, no tears) reflecting its history or providing a superb base for restoration. A rare and highly distinguished set, ideal for a retro-chic interior.
