Pair of TON armchairs type 6950

Designed by J. Smidek and manufactured in the 1960s at the Czechoslovakian Ton factory, one of the oldest manufacturers of curved furniture in the world. The company's history dates back to 1861, when Michael Thonet founded the first factory in Bystrice pod Hostynem. In 1953, the factory changed its name to Ton. The company successfully continues the tradition today, introducing new trends and projects in the production of curved furniture. The pair of armchairs has undergone restoration of the joinery and upholstery. The wooden elements were cleaned of the old varnish, painted with a brown stain, and protected with several layers of semi-matt varnish. The upholstered parts were replaced and carefully recreated to resemble the original.
