Oil on canvas. Venetian school of the 18th century. The vast northern landscape, with verdant mountain slopes crossed by a river, is inhabited by several figures in the foreground: a group of people listens to a young man standing in the centre, who is announcing something, pointing with his outstretched arm towards the sun breaking through the dark clouds. This evokes a sermon by Saint John the Baptist, although no iconographic elements specifically refer to this character. The painting, restored and re-stretched, is mounted on a frame from the early 1900s. It is presented in a contemporary frame.
