Antique Dutch wooden bench with woven seat

A characterful old Dutch bench with a tall slatted back, wide armrests and a hand-woven seat of natural rush. The dark wood has a warm, lived-in patina with wear, colour variations and old signs of use. Subtly turned details on the uprights and front legs add a refined accent. Its compact size makes the bench easy to place, yet the tall back gives it plenty of presence. The simple construction, straight lines and well-worn patina give this bench a calm, authentic character. An understated, Arts and Crafts-like look; lovely in a hallway, bedroom, living space or at a large dining table. Especially at home with lime-washed walls, old stone floors, linen, pottery and other natural materials in a rustic or wabi-sabi interior. Sturdy and ready to use. Old woodworm holes and normal signs of age and use; the woven seat has small irregularities consistent with its handmade, antique character.
