Lajos Kozma – Dining or living room set from the 1940s, consisting of 6 pieces. This mid-century seating set comprises two benches with armrests (often described as dining or living room sofas) and two matching dining chairs, designed as a cohesive set in the 1940s. Made from solid oak, all pieces share the same architectural vocabulary: clean and rational lines, carefully balanced proportions, and a light appearance achieved through refined construction. The seats retain their original upholstery, secured with the original nails, and all joints and structural details remain intact. The condition is exceptional. The set is entirely unrestored, with preserved original surfaces and only minimal visible natural patina. The wood shows no signs of drying or structural fatigue; the joints are tight and stable, making the furniture fully suitable for daily use despite its museum-quality originality. Functionally, the benches are designed for two people each—ideal for use as dining benches, living room seating, or waiting room furniture—while the chairs complement the set as dining or auxiliary seating. This combination reflects Kozma's late design approach, practical, measured, and human-scaled, distinct from his earlier Art Deco work. As a complete and authentic group, this set represents a rare and increasingly scarce example of mid-century Hungarian design in its original state, suitable for collectors, refined interiors, or institutional contexts.
