Column support screw for wooden press

Very beautiful side table made from an old solid wood press screw. 19th century. The oak screw, hand-carved, forms a threaded shaft of beautiful regularity — its successive rings create a play of shadows and light that gives it a true sculptural presence. The patina is dark and deep, nourished by over a century of use. Some natural cracks in the wood serve to remind of the piece's age, without compromising its solidity. Diameter of the tabletop: 30cm.
