Hummel religious statuette bust by Goebel

Adorable little bust of a madonna in prayer in very pretty colors including a shaded orange-red for the veil or turquoise on her chasuble. It is very fine work, painted by hand. I fell for this little bust in particular for its finesse, its colors and also because with this small size, it is an object that can easily be placed on a shelf or in a window. And my research reassured me that I had done the right thing! This statuette, relatively rare today, was made by the german company goebel, recognized for the quality of its ceramic characters since 1871, according to a design by sister maria innocentia hummel. The latter created more than 600 designs between 1930 and 1946, many of which were used by the goebel company to create ceramic statuettes, which today are called "hummel figurines" or even just hummels and which collectors are torn away. Under the bust we find several markings: “hm 64” which probably means hummel maria model 64, the goebel brand stamps (bees) as well as a germany marking. The brand stamp, which has changed slightly over time, allows us to date this piece to between 1950 and 1955. It is in good condition, no cracks, the colors are still very bright, just a few slight marks which reflect of its 7 decades: a small chip on the top of the head and a few small, barely visible marks on the back. It measures 9.5 cm in height, 6 cm in width, 4.3 cm in depth.
