Very large freestanding mirror in teak, of Indonesian origin. Rectangular frame in solid teak with a honey hue, featuring visible grain and a dry patina. The pediment hosts a carved openwork panel of leafy scrolls and flowers, arranged on either side of a central motif. Large rectangular glass. The whole rests on two cut-out feet. The back, closed with a panel of teak boards, protects the reverse of the glass. This mirror can find its place in a living room, an entrance, a bedroom, or a dressing room. The raw teak and the sculpted decor can suit a bohemian chic or wabi-sabi style, as well as a more minimalist interior. Height: 2m29, width 1m12, depth 40 cm. Weight approximately 70 kg. Generally in good condition, with a marked patina, signs of use on the frame and feet, and a crack on the back panel, glass overall in good condition with a few tiny scratches. Indonesian manufacture, probably from the 20th century. The openwork floral motifs carved in teak are part of a well-established artisanal tradition in Java, with Jepara being the most well-known centre. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
