By the river

Very charming folk art painting. It reproduces the painting "the banks of the river" or "in spring" by the artist jacqueline comerre paton, also taken up by her painter friend fanny caillé. A simple subject whose naive manner perfectly illustrates what the collector wilhem uhde explained about modern primitive painters: "their heart remained passionately and tenderly attached, in all candor and innocence, to a world that for us has been broken and perverted." the painting is old and has many defects visible in photos: crazing of the pictorial layer (nevertheless quite stable), repainting, restorations, hole. It has handwritten indications on the back (date and author?) and the stamp of the frame supplier lefranc.
