Brown glazed stoneware pot — Antique pottery

Ancient stoneware pot with brown glaze (salt glaze or iron oxide), in a conical shape flaring outwards at the top. The neck is highlighted by a bulge and two small handles (ears) attached for gripping or for passing a cord. The body is decorated with fine horizontal incised grooves. The belly shows a characteristic patina of use typical of old utilitarian pieces (confit pot, grease pot, or preservation pot). Glazed interior, partially glazed exterior revealing the raw stoneware towards the base. Height: 14.5 cm, diameter: 16 cm, weight: 1 kg.
