Attributed to herman van swanevelt (woerden around 1600-paris 1655) oil on canvas. 26 X 36 cm. Excluding frame, 46 cm X 56 cm with frame recovering, old dirty varnish. "the flight into egypt: landscape with the setting sun" wikipedia says: "herman van swanevelt or herman swanevelt, (woerden in 1603 -paris in 1655) is a french landscape painter, engraver and publisher of dutch origin. Painter of the century however, he is a representative of the flemish baroque style. His influence is important on the development of landscape art in france... " element of provenance: on the reverse of the frame an old damaged sales catalog label: "swanevelt (says) herman of italy: in a landscape with the effect of a setting sun (…) we notice a group of figures representing the flight into egypt.
