Rare duo of breakfast sets in fine porcelain from Desvres, Fourmaintraux manufacture, consisting of two cups and their large saucers with integrated handles. Each set features a different design, with regionalist characters painted in Auvergne landscapes, surrounded by a rich polychrome rocaille decor in deep blue, olive green, saffron yellow, and orange tones. The shapes are particularly original: scalloped cups with contoured edges and large asymmetrical saucers equipped with two sculpted handles. The set exudes a highly decorative presence, typical of Desvres productions from the early 20th century. The designs subtly differ from one set to another, enhancing the artisanal charm of the ensemble and its uncommon character. Signed 1459 FF: the Fourmaintraux manufacture in Desvres was one of the great signatures of Northern faience, renowned for its free interpretations of Rouen traditions. In good vintage condition with signs of age consistent with its years, including crazing and patina, some micro-chips and slight wear visible on the edges and reliefs, very fine hairline cracks or crazing (see photos). Cups: 13 cm long including the handle, 10.5 cm in diameter, 6.5 cm high. Saucers: 25.5 cm long, 20 cm wide, and 3 cm high. Characterful faience, pieces that are both naive, refined, and intensely decorative.
