This ancient Chinese glazed vase is an ovoid jar with caramel glaze, featuring tenon handles and stamped floral rosette decoration. It originates from China, from the Qing dynasty, when stoneware was fired in provincial kilns for domestic use. These stoneware jars were used to store food and liquids in the Chinese home, with glaze applied by dipping, leaving the foot unglazed. Today, they are appreciated as decorative vases. The body is made of high-fired stoneware, with an ash glaze applied to the upper half and floral stamped decoration under the glaze. It retains two tenon handles at the shoulder. The caramel glaze shows the irregularities of the kiln and a gentle wear, while the unglazed stoneware of the foot contrasts with the glazed surface.
