Old brown glazed stoneware grease pot h 26 cm

A vintage grease pot made of stoneware, with an oval silhouette and deep brown glaze that will bring rustic charm to a country kitchen, terrace, or garden. Hand-turned, it features a generous, rounded belly flanked by two loop handles applied under the neck. The brown glaze reveals the natural variations from firing. The neck is left in raw stoneware of a grayish beige, while the interior is covered with gray glaze. The unglazed base shows some orange marks. A robust vintage pot full of character, ideal as a plant pot, umbrella stand, or for holding large branches. Before the advent of the refrigerator, every farm had several of these stoneware pots to store fats, lard, and preserved meats. Their opening was sealed with a lid or a cloth tied under the rim, and the handles allowed for easy movement from the cellar to the kitchen. Condition consistent with its age: patina, traces of dirt and dust to clean, fine cracks and small losses of glaze near the base, slight chipping on the neck.
