Description
Pierre-paul-léon glaize (1842 - 1932) Painter of history, allegorical subjects, genre scenes, portraits. He was first a student of his father, the painter Auguste-Barthelemy Glaize. He entered the Paris School of Fine Arts in the workshop of Jean-Léon Géromeil obtained a second prize in Rome in 1866. He exhibited at the salon from 1869 and obtained numerous medals. Léon Glaize died in 1932 and was buried in Paris at the Père Lachaise cemetery. Listed in the Bénézit. Signature top right. Large oil on canvas portrait of a woman. Dated 1902 top left. Art Nouveau frame in wood and gilded stucco. Frame 101 cm x 84 cm. Canvas 81 cm x 65 cm.
