Large sculpture of a woman and child in hand-carved wood, Europe, mid-20th century. A magnificent fine and slender sculpture of a woman with a child. Europe, 1973. The woman is almost entirely wrapped in a flowing cloak, her head slightly tilted, while the child rests against her chest. Carved in a simple and discreet manner, the surface shows palpable chisel marks. Very expressive and well-crafted sculpture. The large figure rests on a simple wooden base and is signed and dated '73.
