Willy Biron Châtelet 'Grès Salé Grand Feu' Studio ceramic vase. Belgium, mid-20th century. This magnificent Grand Feu salt-glazed stoneware vase from Willy Biron's studio in Châtelet near Charleroi, Belgium, is made using an ancient technique. The stoneware pieces are fired at very high temperatures, with salt added in the kiln creating a salt glaze through a chemical reaction. The vase has an elegant and interesting natural shape, with a colourful glaze ranging from yellow to brown, green to purple, almost forming a living landscape. A superb example of Belgian salt-glazed stoneware. In very good vintage condition. Signed on the base and with an old exterior sticker.
