Glazed stoneware vase made by the Belgian ceramist Maurice Pitot, active in Châtelineau and linked to the tradition of Bouffioulx stoneware, around the 1950s-1960s. This beautiful piece features a generous ovoid shape, highlighted by two looped side handles and a wide flared neck. The decoration is distinguished by a superb work of flowing glazes in shades of brown, copper, olive green, and black, creating particularly expressive effects of texture and depth. The variations in colour and irregular drips testify to the artisanal character of the piece, making each side different. The contrast between the warm tones of the body and the darker glazes of the neck and handles gives it a very decorative presence. The base bears the incised signature "Pitot P", corresponding to the ceramist Maurice Pitot. Overall very good vintage condition. Some small firing and glazing irregularities are visible, characteristic of a handcrafted piece from this era. Please refer to the detailed photographs to appreciate its condition precisely. Dimensions: 20 cm in height and approximately 17 cm in width. Weight: approximately 1.4 kg. Origin: Belgium. Artist: Maurice Pitot. Period: 1950s-1960s. A very beautiful piece of post-war Belgian stoneware, ideal for adding an artistic and warm touch to a vintage, brutalist, or contemporary interior.
