Secretary desk with drop leaf – walnut burl and marquetry

Very beautiful secretary chest of drawers with a flowing shape, in the style of 18th-century Dutch furniture, featuring rich burl marquetry with warm and luminous tones. This elegant piece stands out with its curved front, strongly contoured sides, and remarkable sculpted feet in the shape of lion paws. The upper part opens with a wide slanted flap, revealing a particularly refined and functional interior. It includes a set of symmetrically arranged curved small drawers, open niches, and a central compartment closed by a small door adorned with a marquetry medallion. A frieze alternating different wood types harmoniously highlights the lower part of the tier. The flap forms a comfortable writing surface, enhanced by a green writing pad. The lower part opens with three large curved drawers, fitted with beautiful pull handles and ornate brass lock entries. The whole rests on four sculpted feet in the shape of lion paws, giving the piece a particularly decorative presence. The burl marquetry, arranged in symmetrical patterns on the front and flap, offers beautiful grain variations. A characterful piece that combines the functions of a secretary and a chest of drawers, ideal for a classic interior, a library, or a study.
