AD5 Swivelling Floor Lamp Bauhaus, design from 1924, Woka edition

The AD5 floor lamp by Woka, inspired by a German Bauhaus model dating from 1924 and undergoing official documentation. This lamp is characterized by its very functional design, with a slender foot, circular base, and large orientable lampshade. The articulated structure allows the lamp to swivel and the lampshade to be repositioned, reflecting the importance given by the Bauhaus to functionality, mechanical clarity, and clean geometric shapes. This model is listed in the Woka archives under reference AD5, product number 55; its original design dates back to 1924 and is generally attributed to the German Bauhaus movement rather than a specific designer. WOKA Lamps Vienna was founded by Wolfgang Karolinsky, whose research and collection primarily focused on applied arts and early 20th-century lighting. After starting with the restoration of old lamps in the 1970s, WOKA has developed into a manufacturer specializing in lights inspired by historical models. The company has acquired original tools and, for many models, manufacturing rights, and creates its editions by hand in Vienna using traditional metalworking techniques. Their models are produced in very small numbers.
