Minimalist candle holder Royal Goedewaagen

Royal Goedewaagen, candlestick, Netherlands, early 20th century. A very minimalist and therefore distinctive object. This candle holder has a very honest and straight shape and appears timeless and modern, even though it is at least 70 years old. The cracked patina that has formed over the years gives it additional character. This minimal and timeless quality is its great strength and proves that good design in the 21st century can be as modern as in the early 1900s. This candle holder must date from 1910 or later, as the suffix 'Royal' is included in the name 'Goedewaagen'. The company had already been in existence for 300 years by 1910 and was awarded the royal title in the same year. In vintage condition with some small chips visible in the photos. Signed 'Royal Goedewaagen Gouda' underneath the candle holder.
