Large hard travel suitcase, made of thick tawny leather. 1910/1920. Structure reinforced with fully studded edges to protect the leather from friction during transport. Corners also have thick leather reinforcements that are riveted. Wooden reinforcement underneath the suitcase. The suitcase closes with two large crosswise leather straps equipped with brass buckles. Note that one of them no longer has the small leather tip, see photo. Fitted with two side lever clasps in solid brass. No key. The main lock is signed by the famous American manufacturer Yall and Town MFG.CO.STAMFORD, CONN.USA. A mark of high quality and robustness for the time. It has sturdy leather handles on the sides. The original painted initials are also noticeable, which was customary for wealthy travellers with several matching pieces of luggage. The interior is lined with removable beige cardboard fabric, striped with brown, in very good condition. Compartmentalised model with side flaps. The inside of the suitcase has two manufacturer/retailer labels that allow tracing the history of the suitcase. TP FERRIER luxury leather goods, rue de l’opéra in Nice, indicating that the suitcase was sold or serviced at this famous establishment on the Côte d’Azur for luxury tourism in the early 20th century. J. Granat in Mexico, who was a renowned importer of luxury American-style luggage.
