Oil on canvas The Fountain of Vence by Dufy 1921

The most amusing thing about this wonderful painting is comparing it to Raoul Dufy's La Fontaine de Vence from 1921. Dufy's sensational style - absolutely. La Fontaine de Vence - yes, that's it too. The framing - different. The surroundings of the fountain in the square - they have really changed! This painting is not a copy of the famous work but a piece of temporal perspective, like a photograph, the same subject decades later, painted on the easel, in the same place, but in the style of the masterpiece, as a tribute to what Dufy would have seen. A large canvas close to the dimensions of the original Fountain. Framed dimensions 71cm X 61.5cm. Canvas dimensions 55cm X 46cm. When you know, you know. Solar!.
