Antique bench table made of solid wood, Chinese rural furniture from Shandong, dated around 1930. Originating from Shandong in eastern China, from the early 20th century, where local wood was crafted using mortise and tenon joinery without nails, featuring long tabletops. In rural homes and courtyards of Shandong in the early 20th century, long bench tables served as versatile surfaces: courtyard tables, communal benches during meals, supports for food preparation, or work surfaces for daily household tasks. Their length allowed for multiple people to gather, and their intermediate height placed them between a table and a bench. Constructed from solid wood with a top made of longitudinal planks joined flat. The top rests on four square-section legs with a double H-stretcher, a characteristic reinforcement of long Chinese tables. The joinery is traditional mortise and tenon, without nails. The carpentry retains the simplicity of rural furniture from eastern China. Details. Dimensions: Length 203 cm – Depth 58 cm – Height 59 cm. Style: Chinese rural furniture.
