Description
A true collector's item, the garden egg chair designed in 1968 by p.ghyczy incorporates typical characteristics of the period: a design inspired by the space age, a UFO shape, portability and the informal character of the low seat. It is one of the first chairs made from polyurethane, a key material of the 60's suitable for both indoors and outdoors, although as a design icon and collector's item it is rarely used indoors. outside. As attractive open as closed with its lacquered covering, it embodies both a functional piece of furniture and a sculptural object. Inside, a soft cushion, covered in a carmine red tone fabric, promotes comfort and relaxation. The fiberglass hull shows slight signs of use relative to its age. The cushion is in very good condition. Peter Ghyczic's "Garden Egg" Chair is featured in the permanent collections of renowned museums around the world, including the V&A Museum (London, GBR), the Wende Museum (Los Angeles, USA), the Design Museum Holon (Holon, ISR ) and adam-brussels design museum (brussels, bel). Closed height: 40; open height 100; height X seat depth: 30x50cm.
