Pedestal console in pencil reed in the style of Vivai del Sud - 1970s

Material: pencil reed (fine strands of rattan and reed assembled in parallel lines), a weaving and cabinet-making technique highly valued in high-end design of the 1970s. The marquetry base attributed to Vivai del Sud (although unsigned) and the symmetrical design make it a stunning decorative piece. Whether used as a plant stand or a sculptural object, the honey-coloured bamboo offers an elegant and soft texture as well as a patina characteristic of the Mid-Century style.
