Empire period walnut commode with detached columns – early 19th century. Beautiful solid walnut commode opening at the front with three wide drawers, flanked by detached columns adorned with bronze rings, characteristic of the Empire style (circa 1810). The top features a lovely patina and warm shades of walnut. The drawers are enhanced with chiselled bronze handles. The columnar sides give the whole piece an architecturally elegant appearance typical of the Empire. The interior and back confirm an old construction, with a more rustic wooden frame.
