Description
Set of 2 chairs designed by the designer duo Charles & Ray Eames. These chairs were manufactured by Herman Miller in the 1970s. The shell of the chairs is made of fiberglass and has the original seventies upholstery. This upholstery in brown duotone colors is made of hopsak, an expressive flat-woven polyamide fabric. The chromed metal frame ends on chair pot caps in plastic with felt. The original anti-slip caps were worn out and were replaced by original Vitra caps with felt on the bottom. This makes them ideal for use on all types of floors. Both chairs are marked at the bottom with the manufacturer's sticker. Both have minor signs of wear but are in beautiful vintage condition. The fiberglass shows minor signs of age at the bottom, but it is certainly not torn. Furthermore, some light spots here and there, but this contributes to the natural patina and is certainly not disturbing (see photos). The chair was included in the permanent collection of the MoMa in New York very shortly after its design and start of production. Rightly so!
