René Martin, stool for Méribel around 1965.
€1,000
Four-legged stool in solid pine attributed to René Martin, known as "René les Ciseaux," a French cabinetmaker who notably collaborated with Charlotte Perriand on the interiors of chalets in Méribel. Its thick, slightly hollowed circular seat with softened edges rests on four tapered and flared legs. The design is reduced to the essentials, with particular attention to proportions and woodworking. The deep, irregular brown-red patina reveals the grain of the pine and accentuates the curves of the seat. France, circa 1965.
