This long and large rectangular coffee table is in perfect condition and signed. It was designed by Roger Capron (1922-2006) in the 1960s-70s. The rounded tile top at both ends rests on a wooden base that is assembled and stained. The stoneware tiles engraved with leaf imprints belong to the herbarium of the garrigue, so often interpreted by the artist. The autumn colours are calm in all shades of beige and ochre, and Capron's nature imposes itself on our gaze with finesse and softness, even as this theme has become so prevalent. Winner of the Grand Prix International de la Céramique in 1970, gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1954, and gold medal in Brussels in 1959, Roger Capron will remain in history as one of the greatest. He bequeaths to us a work of art in the form of an everyday object.
