Large Sculptural Sommerso Vase in Murano Glass & White Opaline — Flavio Poli Style for Seguso, circa 1960/1970s, cylindrical twisted blown glass, showcasing high-quality glassmaking craftsmanship. Unique model not found elsewhere. This sculptural piece employs the famous Sommerso technique, characteristic of the master glassmakers of Murano, Italy. WARNING: THERE ARE ROUGH MODELS SOMEWHAT SIMILAR FOR SALE ONLINE BUT ABSOLUTELY NOT IN THE SAME MATERIALS, MADE INDUSTRIALLY IN MOULDS; MY MODEL IS MADE BY MASTER GLASSMAKERS, EASILY VERIFIABLE IN THE PHOTOS. The core in pure, opaque white opaline is enveloped in a thick outer layer of transparent glass (Murano crystal), creating beautiful light reflections and a striking depth effect. The entirely manual and artisanal work is confirmed by several typical details appreciated by connoisseurs: An organic helical shape (continuous twist worked hot on the marver and with tongs). Slight natural irregularities at the neck, signs of hot cutting. Presence of stretched micro-bubbles trapped in the mass. A very thick base (up to 2 cm at the centre of the bottom) featuring water and diamond grinding pontils characteristic of hand finishing. With its clean lines and dynamic silhouette, this model fits perfectly within the lineage of modernist creations by Flavio Poli for the Seguso Vetri d'Arte house in the 1960s. A piece of great presence, ideal for enhancing a Vintage, Modernist, or Contemporary interior. Condition: Excellent overall condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations. Height: 37 cm. Diameter: 12 cm (top) / 14 cm (base) Weight: 3.0 kg Colour: White opaline and transparent Origin: Italy (presumed Murano).
