Pair of “Asahi” chairs by Philippe Starck

The "Asahi" armchair is distinguished by a single crooked armrest. Like the curved backrest, it is padded with foam and covered in dark brown textile. A single off-centered padding on the backrest compensates for the imbalance of its single armrest. The backrest and the arm are screwed from below. The very rectilinear structure of the legs is made of solid cherry or pear wood. The seat is in stained plywood. The "Asahi" model does not have a plaque or signature. This seat was designed for the head office of the Japanese brewer Asahi in Tokyo, a building designed by Philippe Starck in 1989. Publisher: Driade
