Important Napoleon III fireplace garniture consisting of a central clock and its two matching candelabra in patinated spelter and veined red griotte marble, late 19th century. Entitled "On the Mountain", the sculpture depicts a young shepherdess or peasant walking in a romantic style, holding a crook (the shepherd's staff) in one hand and picking or admiring a flower (an edelweiss, evoking the mountain) in the other. The terrace bears the inscriptions: “ON THE MOUNTAIN BY GUILLEMIN SCULP” And the signature “L. GUILLEMIN” The movement is signed AD Mougin – Deux Médailles, a renowned French manufacture from the late 19th century. Very beautiful decorative presence with its significant dimensions, its rococo gilt bronzes, and its richly veined red marble. The set is accompanied by its key and pendulum. Please note: The movement starts but requires servicing as it stops after a few seconds. (Not necessary for decorative use) The minute hand is missing. Some signs of age and minor wear consistent with its antiquity. Clock dimensions: Height: 59 cm. Width: 28 cm. Depth: 17 cm. Weight: 5.9 kg. Candelabra dimensions: Height: 48 cm. Width: 17 cm. Depth: 17 cm. Weight: 2.3 kg each. Materials: patinated spelter. Veined red marble. Gilded decorative elements. Period: Late 19th – early 20th century. Style: Napoleon III / Louis XV / Belle Époque.
