"Night" bedside table by Arne Wahl Iversen for Möbel-IKÉA, 1960

Before IKEA became the global brand we know today, it collaborated with some of the most interesting post-war Scandinavian designers. The "Notte" bedside table, designed by Arne Wahl Iversen for Möbel-IKÉA in Älmhult, belongs to this phase of the company's history, when constructive quality and design research were at the heart of its production. The design reflects the essential language of 1960s Danish design. The compact proportions are lightened by the slender base, while the teak, with its warm and regular grain, becomes the true protagonist of the piece. Every detail is carefully studied to achieve a balance between functionality and refinement, without resorting to superfluous decorative elements. The bedside table is organized with a practical upper drawer for everyday objects and an open lower compartment that offers additional space for books or small accessories. This configuration makes it extremely versatile: in addition to being used next to the bed, it can be used as a side table in the living room or as a small storage unit in an entrance hall. Today, the "Notte" model represents a testament to Möbel-IKÉA's more refined production, prior to large-scale distribution. A piece that combines the elegance of Arne Wahl Iversen's design with the quality of Danish modernism, maintaining its relevance even in contemporary interiors. Country of production: Sweden.
