Magnificent soup tureen with a lid in glazed stoneware, from the famous Poterie de la Colombe, a workshop founded in 1960 by Madeleine Brault. A rare and unique piece, it features the famous "Tachiste" decor emblematic of the workshop: projections of dark oxides on a cream white glaze, contrasting with the reddish stoneware of the clay. A true utilitarian work of Mid-Century Modern art, this soup tureen has been entirely handcrafted and bears on the reverse the relief stamp of the stylised dove with the inscription "Colombe France". • Poterie de la Colombe – France (Vallauris style) • Era: 1960s/1970s. • Handcrafted glazed stoneware. • Unique piece. • Height with lid: 16 cm. • Width with handles: 28 cm. • Diameter: 24 cm. Exceptional condition. A small loss of original glaze on the edge of the lid, due to the artisanal firing (natural shrinkage of the glaze), and not due to a usage chip. Other pieces from this service are available in my shop: plates, bowls, mini bowls, serving platter, and small dish. A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic service from the Poterie de la Colombe, sought after by enthusiasts of vintage French ceramics.
