Ma hongwé reliquary statue from gabon. Composed of solid brass wires woven onto a wooden core. Ornate brass plates on the rear side. Presumed dating circa 1960. Sold with its metal base. Kota reliquaries are used for ancestor worship, they are often placed above baskets containing the bones of the deceased, so society could venerate these dead.
