Red turned wood corner chair with rush seating

The turned wood bobbin chairs appeared in the 19th century in England, before crossing the Channel to settle in the salons and boudoirs of the French bourgeoisie. Rarely used for prolonged sitting, they were rather designed as decorative objects, to be tucked into a corner. This one, found in France, has been restored in a red lacquer. The woven straw seat has been kept as is, with its patina and signs of use.
