Superb antique plate with a scalloped edge, from the pottery of Salins-les-Bains (Jura), decorated in the so-called “Buchy” style. A rare piece in this old version with amber glaze, hand-painted before the modernisation of the factory. The decoration, with remarkable graphic elegance, combines coral and gold stylised flowers on a deep black background, framed by a fine patinated cream border. The whole evokes the Art Deco spirit of the 1920s, while retaining the warmth and imperfection of period glazes. On the reverse, the mark “Buchy – Salins France” is hand-painted under the glaze, with its typical red scroll motif from the artisanal period. This plate illustrates the collaboration between the pottery of Salins-les-Bains (Jura), renowned for the quality of its glazes, and the Buchy workshop, a decorator active in the early 20th century, particularly known for its floral motifs inspired by Normandy. There is also a slightly crazed lead glaze, in honey and ivory tones, evidence of natural aging rather than artificial patina. Stamped Salins Buchy. Diameter 25 cm. In beautiful vintage condition, with slight signs of wear on the edge, no chips or cracks, shiny glaze and warm patina attesting to its authenticity. A rare piece for a neo-Art Deco or chic maximalist inspiration.
