A lounge chair made in Denmark in the 1970s by Dyrlund, as confirmed by the original metal maker's badge on the frame. The frame is made of solid teak. The armrests curve gently down into the front legs, while the rear legs angle slightly outwards, giving the chair a light, open silhouette. The slatted back and loose cushions are typical of Danish modernism: a simple form that has aged well and suits both vintage and contemporary interiors. Unfortunately, we have not been able to identify the designer of this model. The warm, honey tone of the teak is paired with cushions upholstered in graphite fabric. This calm, versatile colour scheme fits easily into many different settings. The deep seat and gently reclined backrest make for a comfortable position for reading or relaxing, while the slender frame keeps the chair from overwhelming a room. The cushions are removable, which makes the chair easy to keep clean. Dyrlund is a Danish furniture manufacturer that, from the 1960s onwards, produced furniture in solid wood, mainly teak and rosewood: tables, chairs, sofas, armchairs and bar cabinets. The company worked with designers such as Erik Buch, and its furniture is valued for its sturdy construction and careful joinery. The chair has been professionally restored. The old finish was removed from the teak frame and a fresh coat of lacquer applied, and the cushions have been reupholstered in graphite fabric. The chair is in very good condition and ready to use.
